Is Read Flying Pig affiliated with the Flying Pig Marathon and PigWorks?

The author has participated in many PigWorks events, so she has a personal connection to it.  After coming up with the idea for ABC, Run With Me: Flying Pig Marathon, an early manuscript was shared with the Flying Pig Marathon board and approved.  The use of the Flying Pig Marathon name, logo, and other likenesses in ABC, Run With Me: Flying Pig Marathon and its accompanying material has been granted with the express permission of Pig Works. All related trademarks and images are used with their approval and remain the property of Pig Works.  However, all of the ideas, concepts, and creative work presented are entirely the author's.

Who is the intended audience for this book?

This book is designed for readers of all ages, offering something enjoyable and meaningful for everyone, from children to adults.  It's not your typical ABC book and has some fun information in it, as well as beautiful illustrations!  Better yet, you do not have to be a runner to enjoy it!  There's plenty of Cincinnati history as well as gorgeous illustrations!

Kelsey chose the self-publishing route to maintain full creative control over her work. Throughout the process of imagining, writing, editing, and going to print, she has gained invaluable insight into the world of books and printing.

First and foremost, Kelsey Flynn is a mom whose children inspired her journey into writing. With a family that loves all things Flying Pig, she realized there were no books celebrating this iconic Cincinnati event—so she set out to change that!

With a master’s degree in reading and over a decade of teaching experience, Kelsey has dedicated her career to fostering a love of literacy in children. A passionate reader herself, she’s now raising little bookworms and sharing her enthusiasm at home.

As an avid collector of ABC books—often as souvenirs from adventures—Kelsey was inspired to make her debut book in the ABC style! Her work is both educational and engaging for readers of all ages.

Kay Victor is an artist based in Chicago, IL, with a deep passion for storytelling—bringing narratives to life through creative visuals. Specializing in storyboarding, illustration, and animation, Kay crafts engaging and dynamic artwork that captivates audiences.

A graduate of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning, Kay studied both fine and digital art, honing their skills in visual storytelling. Since 2020, they have been working professionally as an illustrator, bringing ideas to life through their unique artistic vision.

Kay connected with Kelsey through a post in the DAAP Alumni newsletter, and though the two have never met in person, they have a great working relationship and look forward to creating more beautiful books in the future!

Lauren joined the ABC Team through a mutual acquaintance and has been an integral part of transforming Kelsey's words and Kay's illustrations into a cohesive, flowing final book.
